Disabled soldiers, policemen in protest march

A group of members of the armed forces and the police who have become disabled at war and sent on retirement, are on a march in Colombo to protest again the denial of a pension for them.

President of their association U.B. Wasantha accused the government of failing to address their request for a pension.

The protestors are trying to make their way to the presidential secretariat to handover a petition.

The stretch of road from Lotus Roundabout and Galle Face Roundabout remain closed, and vehicular movements in the area are disrupted.

The protestors are threatening to stage a fast in front of Colombo Fort railway station if their demand is not met.
