President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (27) received a final investigation report into alleged fraud and corruption in Rakna Lanka security firm that had given a floating armoury project to Avant Garde.

The report was handed over by chairman of the commission investigating the abuse of state property, appeal court judge Prithi Padman Surasena.

The commission also submitted final reports into two other state entities - Welisara ammunition dump and Kurunegala Plantations company, said the commission’s secretary H.W. Gunadasa.

One report notes the massive loss of income due to an expired stock of dynamite at the Welisara ammunition dump.

Also, workers and assets of these institutions had allegedly been used in campaigning for the 2015 presidential election.

The commission has earlier handed over final reports into irregularities in the Negombo lagoon project, ITN, trading stalls in Mahiyangama and substandard water filters in the northcentral province.

The attorney general has already handed over the report pertaining to the Negombo lagoon to the CID for further investigation.
