The president has been informed about a racket by two distilleries involved in blending extra special arrack using artificial spirit.

This racket has been going on with the knowledge of a certain chief minister.

As per the excise act, a certain small percentage of coconut, kitul of palmyrah toddy is added when distilling extra special arrack.

A litre of toddy can produce a maximum of between 45 and 48 per cent of spirit.

As adequate amounts of toddy are not produced locally, these two distilleries are blending extra special arrack with artificial spirit.

This artificial spirit is distilled with the use of in the same manner of distilling goda in the manufacture of the illicit liquor Kasippu.
