Kasun talks on origins of life, sexuality, love & guilt Featured

February is the month of love. With the Valentine's Day just around the corner, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' caught up with Kasun Kalhara Jayawardena, who is one of the musical voices in the Sri Lankan musical field that is synonymous with romance.
Hello! Thank you for your time. How is work these days?
Work at the music academy is continuing as usual. Also, me, Rookantha, Umaria, Chaapa, Nadeeka are gearing up for the 'Love U' concert on Valentine's Day.

Why is the show promoted as 'the lilac evening at the garden of Eden?
Actually it's a conceptual thing. Every show needs a theme. As everyone knows, Eden is said to be the place where Adam was created. It is said that life, sexuality, love and guilt all began at the garden of Eden. It is a beautiful concept. Therefore, we decided to use this on this Valentine's Day and to make a change at this concert.KasunKalhara2

What do you think of love and music?
Both things run parallel. Like the two parallel sides of a ruler.

What sort of experience can your fans expect at  'Love U'?
We are still rehearsing. As a result of our efforts, there will be a change in sounds as well as in the songs itself. We hope to keep the mood throughout the show, through a single theme and enhance the aesthetic quality.

What do you think of the blend of these unique voices?
This is the first time Umaria is singing with us. I have worked with Rookantha but that too, was outside of Sri Lanka. Indrachapa, Nadeeka and myself of course, have been working for quite a while now. The addition of Umaria's and Rookantha's voices will enable to change the tone and hue of what we have been doing for sometime.
