Bollywood superstars as well as leading local and foreign actors taking part in the ceremony are currently entering the golden carpet at the Theatre.

Held on par with international standards, Hiru Golden Film Awards is considered to be the first ever international film awards ceremony in the history of Sri Lankan cinema.

The ceremony was initiated in 2014 as a concept envisioned by the Chairman of the Asia Broadcasting Corporation Mr. Rayynor Silva.

The Inaugural Hiru Golden Film Awards ceremony was held at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium with the participation of scores of Bollywood Superstars allowing the people of Sri Lanka to experience a film festival on par with global standards.

Many Bollywood superstars are gracing the ceremony this year as well.

A special media conference was held at Hilton Colombo today with the participation of the Bollywood superstars who will be taking part in the Hiru Golden Film Awards ceremony tonight.

In response to a question raised by a journalist, Jackie Shroff stated that he is looking forward to act in a Sri Lankan movie.

The award ceremony will present awards to 40 films screened in 2014 and 2015 as well as several creations selected from 100 short films during the same period.

State of the art technology and most modern lighting and sound systems will be utilized to enrich the Hiru Golden film awards ceremony.

Bollywood superstars will be performing at the ceremony tonight adding glamour to this prestigious event.

Expressing his views regarding the awards night, Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation Mr. Rayynor Silva noted that the first step of his vision to uplift Sri Lankan cinema to a new dimension was initiated when the inaugural Hiru Golden Film Awards ceremony was held in 2014.

Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation Mr. Rayynor Silva also stated that he believes that the Hiru golden film awards, which was initiated for the advancement of Sri Lankan cinema, has contributed greatly towards the progress of the local silver screen.
